Web 2.0 coverage of the Santa Barbara Tea Fire
It is tough to be a Santa Barbara resident when you need news coverage. Most of our network affiliates are actually based in Santa Maria, an hour north, or in San Luis Obispo, an hour and 1/2 north, except for
KEYT. One of the Los Angeles-based stations, KCAL9, does do some Santa Barbara coverage though. The local NPR station is based in Thousand Oaks, nearly an hour to the south, but has good local coverage in fire situations and covers SB events. Our local daily newspaper doesn't have a lot of Internet resources. The alternative weekly does some good coverage, but it is a weekly with a web presence.
So, as this evening a large fire rages on, does Web 2.0 come to the rescue?
An Ann Arbor, Michigan-based blogger has done a great round-up of the coverage on Twitter, Flickr, blogs, etc.
CrisisWire has a similar aggregation of news.
