Google announced that Google Maps can now display live traffic data from both highway authorities and GPS-enabled phones that use Google Maps with the My Location feature. As phones move, Google will see how well traffic is flowing.
The United Nations Climate Change Secretariat teamed up with Google to create a Greenhouse Gas Map detailing environmental pollution. The map is a color-coded mash up that pulls together national greenhouse gas inventory and Kyoto Protocol data.
Google Books with over 7 million scanned books is an amazing resource and an exciting project. It is not without controversy though. The recent settlement about the copyright and intellectual property issues surrounding the scanning of the books still does not resolve the debate.
