The Faculty of Humanities provides education and conducts research with a strongly international profile in a large number of disciplines in the field of language and culture. Located in the heart of Amsterdam, the Faculty maintains close ties with many cultural institutes in the capital city. The Faculty of Humanities offers assistant professors the opportu- nity to collaborate with leading researchers at research institutes that - partly as a result of their multidisciplinary approach - are world-renowned. Moreover, you will be teaching in a dynamic con- text in which new educational methods are being developed.
Together with other new assistant professors you will participate in a comprehensive introductory programme. You will be supervised closely during the first year of your appointment. Additional didac- tical training is also part of the appointment. Based on the candi- date's educational portfolio, previously acquired competences will be taken into consideration.
Job description
The candidate will bring to the position a relevant and innovative research agenda in the areas of Digital Humanities and Information Cultures and will be especially interested in the critical study, de- velopment and application of digital methods, techniques and tools. The study of Digital Humanities within Media Studies con- cerns both contemporary and historical periods, and also tran- scends the individual disciplines within the field. Candidates will be at home in more than one sub-discipline, demonstrated by experience in working with data collections of different types, both digitized and born-digital. In the study of information and media (broadly understood as books, artworks, audio-visual media and digital media), digital research materials are evolving in spectac- ular fashion, leading to new research affordances that require a critical approach to media as information, as well as to how digital media structure the reuse and interpretation of born-digital and historical data. The successful candidate is expected to bring to- gether researchers working in Digital Humanities, Information Cultures and Media Studies and aim to acquire funding for collab- orations by actively participating in one of the research schools in the Faculty of Humanities. Whilst the successful candidate is free to choose his/her research affiliation, he/she would be asked to make a contribution to the Amsterdam Centre for Cultural Heritage and Identity, one of the University of Amsterdam’s research priority areas.
The candidate also will play a major role in teaching courses and in curriculum development in the bachelor, Media and Information (in both the Information Cultures as well as the New Media tracks, in- cluding the minor in Digital Humanities), and in the master pro- grams in Information Cultures, Archival Studies and/or New Media & Digital Culture. Furthermore, the candidate is expected to be an ambassador for the research programs and actively liaise and work with stakeholders both within and outside of the university sector.
Requirements
Relevant PhD degree, or PhD defense date scheduled before start of contract, in the area of humanities;
programming skills and/or skilled use of software for data analysis;
experience in research and excellent research skills, evidenced by publications in renowned international academic journals / edited volumes;
several years of teaching experience at the university level and demonstrable didactic abilities and / or training, evidenced by an educational portfolio;
experience in an academic position where research and teach- ing are combined;
experience with digital and audio-visual equipment; affinity with the use of ICTs in academic education;
capable of functioning at all levels in more than one programme of study;
organisational experience and skills;
reliable team worker;
thorough knowledge of Dutch and English; non-native Dutch speakers are requested to achieve competency in Dutch within two years.

Appointment
The appointment will be a tenure track appointment, for 38 hours a week. The initial appointment will be two years. Depending on teaching evaluations and professional assessment, tenure will be granted after two years. The gross monthly salary will range from €3,400 (scale 11) to €5,288 (scale 12), based on a full-time ap- pointment (38 hours a week). The Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities is applicable.

2. Assistant Director of the Center for Digital Humanities
The Center for Digital Humanities (CDH) at Princeton seeks an Assistant Director to play a leadership role in managing CDH-sponsored projects, fostering a dynamic community for postdoctoral fellows, graduate students and undergraduates, coordinating new initiatives, and participating in the administration of the CDH. The successful candidate will draw upon previous training and experience in digital humanities, project management, grant-writing, and program coordination to help the CDH develop these key areas of activity and outreach.
Reporting to the Associate Director, the Assistant Director, appointed at the rank of Associate Professional Specialist or more senior, will participate in the full slate of CDH-sponsored projects, offering project management support in project incubation, planning, implementation, and conclusion stages. He or she will help coordinate CDH staff work on projects, facilitating team building and monitoring resources. The successful candidate will design and oversee a CDH project portfolio process that ensures alignment with the Center’s strategic vision, priorities and resource allocation. The Assistant Director can serve as PI on internal and external grants.
The Assistant Director will support the Associate Director in ensuring the effective operation of the CDH. Administrative responsibilities will primarily consist of working closely with the Finance and Administrative Coordinator to ensure that project administration and event coordination is handled appropriately.
This position qualifies for 20% R&D time on a project chosen in consultation with the Associate Director.
Responsibilities include:
• Designing and implementing a CDH project management methodology
• Offering project management consultations, training sessions, and workshops
• Grant writing and developing projects and partnerships within and outside the Princeton community (other digital humanities centers, foundations, government grants)
• Leading the Project Manager’s professional seminar
• Tracking and archiving project documentation
• Designing and implementing the CDH project portfolio process
• Serving as liaison, and coordinating programming for, CDH post-doctoral researchers, graduate students, and undergraduates
• Recruiting, training and supervising CDH graduate and undergraduate assistants.
• Managing CDH Postdocs, including postdoctoral researchers hired to work on a particular project in consultation with the CDH
Essential Qualifications
• A PhD in a humanities or digital humanities discipline
• At least 3 years professional experience at a digital humanities initiative or center
• At least 3 years project management experience in an academic or library setting
• Experience working with diverse teams (faculty, graduate students, undergraduates, library staff, technologists, administrators) from various divisions of a university or college
• Experience recruiting, hiring, supervising and overseeing graduate and undergraduate student workers
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

3. Digital Scholarship Programmer/ Analyst at Northeastern

Reporting to the Director of the Digital Scholarship Group, the Programmer/Analyst works collaboratively with colleagues in the Library and across campus, and participates in an ongoing evaluation of emerging academic and library technologies. The position works closely with the library and faculty colleagues to develop a sustainable software ecology that can be applied to range of scholarly projects in the humanities, social sciences, and related disciplines.
Please note: This is a two-year pilot position with opportunity for extension.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree and relevant development experience, preferably in higher education
• Excellent knowledge of web development using Ruby on Rails required.
• Significant experience with Hydra and Fedora, including customization of Hydra gems preferred.
• Significant experience with front-end development -- tools, techniques and workflow automation (using CSS and preprocessors, XHTML, JavaScript/JQuery, git/github, bootstrap responsive design framework, etc.).
• Knowledge of current web development standards and cross platform compatibility and accessibility techniques.
• Experience with Open Source software.
• Ability to work in an API environment and experience with SOAP and/or REST desirable.
• Excellent oral and written skills to communicate with technical and non-technical individuals and prepare project documentation to support training and best practices encoding guidelines
• Strong interpersonal skill; ability to work successfully in a collaborative environment.
• Ability to take initiative and meet deadlines.
• Experience with IT in a library or higher education setting desirable.

5. Andrew W. Mellon Digital Humanities Postdoctoral Research Scholar at Lehigh
Lehigh University seeks applications for a two-year Mellon Postdoctoral Research Scholar in digital humanities and community engagement beginning August 2016. The annual salary is $50,000 with full benefits.
We seek a postdoctoral scholar well-versed in digital media, methods and technologies, with scholarly interest in one or more of the following areas: documentary studies, community engagement, urban studies and social justice. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in documentary film or digital storytelling. The scholar will teach one undergraduate course each semester, contribute to workshops in partnership with the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning, and work one-on-one to help faculty integrate digital media into courses. The scholar will also take the lead in organizing a conference at Lehigh during the Spring semester of 2018 that will provide a showcase for student, faculty and community work and a forum for interaction with nationally and internationally recognized figures in digital humanities.
The goal is to expand an undergraduate curriculum that engages the local community, equips faculty with skills in digital humanities, amplifies undergraduate humanities research, and leads to the development of an interdisciplinary undergraduate minor in documentary studies.
