Richard Bartlett, a co-founder, and Natalia Lombardo, a co-owner, of the Loomio Cooperative will be offering a workshop, “Organising Without Bosses.” Rich and Nati are touring East Asia, the US, and Europe, meeting with activists, artists, cooperatives, startups, collectives, students and academics, and all kinds of people who want to work together without hierarchy.

"We’ve been engaged in the craft of boss-less organising for more than five years, starting with Occupy in 2011, co-founding Loomio (a worker co-op building software for collective decision-making) and Enspiral (a network of dozens of social enterprise startups and tech-for-good projects). We’re woven into a global community of folks pioneering new ways of working, from ‘agile’, ‘holacratic,’ and ‘teal’ organizations, to diffuse activist networks in Korea, Spain, and Taiwan. In this workshop we'll share some of the challenges and delights of non-hierarchical, inclusive, intersectional, collaborative, horizontal organising. You can get an impression of the workshop content from this brief report from a session entitled “Everyday Democracy” that we hosted in Seoul late last year, the day after the Korean president had been impeached after massive civil unrest."

Rich Bartlett is a co-founder of Loomio, an open source software tool for collective decision-making. Loomio was developed in 2011 by a worker-owned cooperative social enterprise based in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Natalia Lombardo is a co-owner of Loomio. She helps groups to cultivate collaborative culture through values-driven behaviours. Her background is in community development through local action, permaculture, and creative activism. Born in Argentina, living in New Zealand: she’s a bilingual translator that loves to bridge cultures.
