Monica Bulger is a doctoral student at the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education at UC Santa Barbara. Monica's dissertation The Trouble with Information: How Students Gather and Evaluate Online Resources examines the cognitive strategies students use when gathering online information to complete academic assignments. She compares expert and novice performance on a writing task to determine whether technical and/or domain expertise affect learning outcomes. Monica's goal is to identify successful practices that improve students’ use of online resources.
Monica's research and academic interests are in earning and cognition, literacy and technology, and research methods in education.
