On Tuesday, March 11 at 4:00 the Center for Information Technology and Society (CITS) will be hosting a panel discussion on interdisciplinary research methods related to information technology and society.  The event will feature four faculty members -- from Engineering, Humanities, and Social Science -- who will discuss new and exciting research methods used in their research and/or discipline.  This informal panel discussion is intended to help graduate students and faculty members discover and share new methods for addressing their own research questions.

Faculty participants:

Kevin Almeroth is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science where his main research interests include computer networks and protocols, wireless networking, multicast communication, large-scale multimedia systems, and mobile applications. 

Krzysztof Janowicz is an Assistant Professor for Geographic Information Science in the Geography Department. He focuses on combining theory-driven and data-driven approaches in knowledge representation and organization, mobile computing and location-based services, and the semantic web.

Alan Liu is a Professor in the Department of English and principal investigator of the University of California's Transliteracies Project, a multi-campus research group on online reading practices and technologies, and founder of the UCSB English Department's curricular and research development project titled Transcriptions: Literary History and the Culture of Information.

Cynthia Stohl is a Professor of Communication whose work connects several areas in organizational and group studies. She is concerned with the relationships among internal and external communication processes as they are manifest in global collaborations.
